FASTER (movie review)

Faster is a vigilante action flick that centers on 3 characters: Driver (Johnson), Killer (Jackson-Cohen) and Cop (Thornton). After serving 10 years in prison (for robbery), Driver is released and goes on a killing spree to avenge the death of his brother who was murdered after a heist gone wrong. Killer is the assassin sent after Driver to stop his murderous rampage, and Cop is trying to bring them both (Killer and Driver) to justice.
It  is a magnificent mix of gunplay, car chases, and a nice ice-pick fight. You get a few glimpses into Driver’s past, moments that could have added some emotional weight to his actions and his quest for revenge, but instead time is squandered on listening to Killer talk to his therapist on his Blue Tooth, or Billy Bob telling his son that he sucks at baseball, too. You think the filmmakers are setting these three men on a collision course, but that, also, fails to deliver, and the entire movie unravels at the end.
The Action is convincing for me. Faster is a gritty tale that features one man, one gun, and a whole lot of dead bodies. The reason the action in the film is so great is because it’s REAL. There’s no extravagant  stunt, explosion, and car chase is legit
It centers on three basic characters (with no real names or identities) who each have an objective that eventually intersects at the end of the film. It’s very straight to the point but just when you think you’ve got the story figured out you’re blindsided by an amazing twist! I won’t spoil it for you but it’s pretty cool.
